Leave the Bruce Highway near Townsville, heading west for Charters Towers. There are considerable distances between major attractions on the byway that takes you along the Flinders Highway and the Gregory Developmental Road.

Discover the historic golden city of Charters Towers, once known as "the world" because of its cosmopolitan atmosphere and the existence of the first regional stock exchange, built in 1887 and once the only exchange in Australia to have three calls a day.
