By now, you're ready for a byway adventure. Starting from Gladstone, follow the Dawson Highway (with a detour to take in a couple of national parks), part of the Gregory Highway and return via the Capricorn Highway to meet the Bruce Highway at Rockhampton.

Or do it on your way south, starting from Rocky and coming back onto the Bruce Highway at Gladstone.

You can visit national parks, do some history hunting, fossick for gems, take a mine tour, visit a cattle property or just relax by a lake.
