Try a little fossicking and see if you can find your own sapphire among the wash. Then have it faceted and set into a piece of jewellery - all on the spot. If fossicking sounds like it's harder work than you want to do on your holidays, perhaps you'd rather browse around the shops there and buy the finished product.

Every August, there's a superb festival where the starring role belongs to the sapphires.
