Entertainment and warm hospitality

IMAGINE sitting around a campfire as you chat to new acquaintances, eating a hot home-cooked meal with some cocky’s delight and damper on the side and enjoying some home-spun bush poetry or listening to country music artists Barry K and Lyn Chandler.

That’s what is in store for guests at the Bailey Bar Caravan Park this winter. The park is renowned for its hospitality, and park hosts Wendy and Julian pride themselves on their customer service. They guide every van onto its site (they call that their Marriage Saver Service), take their guests on a mini tour of the town map (so nobody misses out on any of the great attractions in town) book guests into the various attractions, arrange therapeutic massages with their own in-house qualified masseuse or deliver a gourmet breakfast basket to your room or caravan!

Julian has some great tips on the local fishing and yabbying and is willing to share them with like-minded fishing folk. (He may even take you to some of his secret spots as an excuse to go out fishing himself.)

The park offers a unique service which is drawing accolades from the travelling public and police alike. Senior Sergeant Steve Shaffer-Steel (Stainless to his mates) makes a visit to the park four afternoons a week to talk to guests about the required road know-how for driving in the outback. Even some of the most experienced drivers have commented on how informative and entertaining the session is. This is free for everyone – just need bring a chair and a sense of humour.

And if you’re in the park at lunchtime, forget about making ham and cheese sandwiches. Exclusive to Bailey Bar is their unique outback lunch experience – oversized sausages cooked on the barbie and served on locally made crusty buns with a choice of condiments including desert lime chutney and boozy fruits.

The park is just opposite the showgrounds and gets very busy in winter so book ahead … and don’t forget to book your tours too.
