Lesson time, but where are the students?
DISCOVER how technology has changed long distance education when you visit the Charleville School of Distance Education.
Originally known as School of the Air, the school has swapped radio communication for telephone lessons. Teachers take daily phone lessons for about 220 primary and secondary children as well as two lessons a week for about 30 preschoolers. Students’ homes are supplied with specially designated telephones and headsets by the school. In conjunction with the on-air lessons, instructional papers are used by teachers and home tutors.
Tours are given daily on school days at 9.15am.
