THERE are such long distances involved in travelling in the outback that it's good to drop in to any small settlement along the way. Between Charleville and Quilpie is Cooladdi, a settlement made up of just one family.

It might be small, but it's welcoming, so if you're driving this route, make sure you pop in and say hello, fuel up and have a meal. Or do a spot of fishing at Quilberry Creek.
