Isisford is in outer Barcoo country - the land described by Australian poet Banjo Paterson as a place "never crossed 'cept by folk that are lost".
But nowadays people who visit aren't lost - they're looking for the genuine "inner Australia" experience. Here, they can see Isis Downs' great semi-circular shearing shed, or visit the Oma stockyards, used by Australia's most famous cattle duffer.
There are many other sites to discover as well. This is truly a land where Australia's pioneering spirit can still be felt.
