THEY CALL their place “the friendly park” and enjoy living up to that name. At the Gulf Country Caravan Park, Ray and Salme Atherinos make everyone welcome but do admit to encouraging a bit of rivalry among their guests - at the weekly fishing competition! Each guest can record their best catch for the week by bringing it in and having it measured. If fishing isn’t your thing, the park organises craft days as well.
The Gulf Country Caravan Park is serious about helping to keep fish in the local rivers and has adopted three barramundi from Gulf Barramundi Discovery Centre. When they’re ready to go out into the wild (the Norman River), three park guests will be nominated to be the ones to release them during the annual duck race which is held later in the year.
