ATTENTION to detail is often what takes an experience out of the ordinary and makes it memorable.
But once on board a Kerry D Charter you’ll probably be too busy having a good time to notice just how they’ve managed to “get everything right”.
Paul and Kerry Donald have been running the charter business for some years, and their boat is one of the big details that they’ve made a point of getting right. It really is a case of out of the ordinary and onto the Kerry D.
The boat was custom made for charter fishing by a naval architect. For a start, it’s easy to board. The boat offers almost full shade, there’s a spacious loo and you’ll enjoy the comfortable twin-engined ride. You can fish from all around the boat ... you can even flick some lures from the front if that’s your style.
Paul is an ex-professional fisherman and he’s a great skipper for both fishing enthusiasts and beginners who don’t know the first thing about tying on a hook or casting a line. Resort quality fishing gear and bait complete the picture.
During the main tourist season, grunter and salmon are the main catches, but barramundi and mackerel can also be hooked.
The Kerry D takes up to 12 people on a special trip and for normal charters it goes out with two to 10 people.
Half-day tours offer morning tea and cool drinks, while full-day tours also provide light lunch on board. The Kerry D is also available for sightseeing trips by arrangement.
Paul and Kerry live in Karumba, so you can book a tour even if it’s not right in the tourist season.
