Home-cooked meals every night ... made for you

PIZZA, piping hot from the wood-fired oven - it makes your mouth water just thinking about it.

Home-cooked meals are served up every night of the season at Bedrock Village, and they’re all delicious. But the pizza - pepperoni, ham and pineapple, chicken or vegetarian - well, that’s fast becoming the park’s signature dish and is served up a couple of times a week. It’s a great way to wind down after spending the day on a tour of the attractions of the region. And after dinner, relax around the campfire to listen to the owner strum a few of your favourite songs.

This is the sort of pleasure that’s in store when you stay at Bedrock Village.

Hosts Joe and Jo Lockyer have built their caravan park with their customers’ comfort in mind. All powered sites are drive through, spacious and screened by native trees. A seniors’ discount applies on powered sites.

The campground is a green, shady oasis and all on-site accommodation – from one-bedroom to family-sized self-contained units - are air conditioned, have en suite and linen is supplied. One cabin is purpose built for disabled patrons and there are 22 cabins in all.

Two free gas barbecues and a camp kitchen, laundry and TV room are adjacent to the modern outdoor dining area. A new spacious, modern amenity block includes facilities for the disabled.

Enjoy a coffee or a light meal in the cafe and stock up on groceries and souvenirs from the convenience store. Extra facilities include an 11m pool, free nine-hole mini-golf course, internet access, a recreation room, mechanical and welding repairs and a wide range of tyres which can be fitted on site.

There is a beautiful springfed creek just 300m from the property, where you may see a freshwater crocodile, or you can just stroll at your leisure and appreciate the beauty of the landscape.

Morning tours to the lava tubes run daily from Bedrock Village and all-day tours are run every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

Thursdays, you can join a Savannahlander train ride to Einasleigh and the Copperfield Gorge then return by road.

Each Tuesday is a cattle station tour. This interactive tour, run by the cattle station owners, includes a working dog demonstration and billy tea by a picturesque waterhole.
All tour guides are trained by the Savannah Guides Association.
