ENJOY the opportunity to reel in some beauties on a fishing trip aboard the Savannah Queen.

Dennis Taney’s five-hour charters give you the chance to pull in a barramundi, salmon, bream or maybe a muddy. But there’s so much more - scenery, a fascinating interpretation of the river and its history, croc spotting and crab catching. It’s wonderfully relaxing, with just enough excitement to make it a totally fulfilling experience.

Dennis, who describes himself as a roving interpreter within the Savannah Guides system, talks about the trees, the floods, the boats that used to ply the river, historic sites, wildlife, the commercial fishing industry, the cattle properties - and added to all that he’ll bait your hook, supply your rod, give you sunscreen, offer you smoko and fillet your fish after the trip. Another glorious time to be on the water is at day’s end. You pull out at 5.00pm for a relaxed look at the sunset then do some croc spotting.
