THE LARK Quarry Interpretation Centre marks the exact spot where dinosaurs once roamed.
The $2.5 million rammed earth building is unashamedly modern in the ancient spinifex-studded landscape, but what it covers is millions and millions of years old.
Here, dinosaurs once roamed and left their footprints in the mud of a prehistoric lake. Now, these fragile imprints in shale and limestone are preserved within the centre.
Access to the centre is by guided tour only. Specially trained on-site guides give tours at 10.00am, midday and 2.00pm daily.
If driving out yourself, consider making a round trip so you can also discover the opal mining settlement of Opalton, 50km from Lark Quarry.
