A taste of the outback ...

Paroo Honey has a taste all its own. The bees gather the sweetest essence of the outback as they hum among the native yapunyah gums. The yapunyah is a eucalypt that grows along the Paroo River flood plains in the isolated western Queensland region of Eulo. The bees also collect the pollen of various other outback shrubs and wildflowers, but it’s the yapunyah that gives Paroo Honey its distinct outback flavour.

Make it a date ...

Way out west in an area of scant rainfall, date palms grow. And it is from the dates collected from these palms that the most amazing products come - tasty cracker date spreads, cosmetics and even date wine. This is boutique wine with a difference and comes in three styles, sweet, dry and semi-sweet. Find out just how exotic the humble date can be with Palm Grove date wine!

What lies beneath the surface ...

What lies beneath the surface of the vast inland? In some places when you dig deep, you find sapphires in a beautiful array of colours. McArthur’s Jewellers brings you some of Australia’s most beautiful sapphires, stunningly set and individually crafted right in the region where the sapphires are found - the Central Queensland gemfields, famed as the largest sapphire fields in the world. Jewellery from this award-winning Australian jeweller will bring a new sparkle to your life.

The humour of the outback ...

There is a certain Australian humour which really belongs to the outback. The hardships and the loneliness of life in the inland forged the character of the pioneers who opened up this land. They left us a lasting legacy - the settling of parts of Australia’s vast outback and the droll sense of humour that outback people carry even into their darker moments. They reckon their dry humour is in keeping with the parched land!

It’s called bush poetry, but it reaches way past the land where it was born - Australian bush poetry is beloved of people throughout the world. Discover this unique kind of humour through the entertaining tapes and books of verse from Longreach bush poet Mark Kleinschmidt.

Bush ingenuity and nostalgia ...

Nostalgia of a time gone by need not be limited to sepia photographs and dusty artifacts. One central Queensland man makes the most amazing scale model buggies in steel. It takes very delicate welding and the lightest hand with steelwork to create these wonderful little models in full working order – bullock wagons, sulkies, drovers buggies, phaetons, Cobb & Co coaches and the calico-covered American chuck wagons. Blackall Buggies offer you a delightful collectable blending today’s skills with the remembrance of yesteryear.
